"do not disturb":

Every hotel has a quiet place.  A private entrance, if you will.  A side "key-entry only" door, most likely opening out to an empty corner of the parking lot.  Utilize this.

When you roll in at seven in the morning to one night off after four shows in a row.  And there is a children's birthday party outside your door.  And they're are apparently having hallway races down your hall.  Or there is a wedding from 7pm until god-knows when. Or there is a college-sponsored rollerskating rally.  All of which has happened to me in the last month.  Unless you feel a burst of energy and opt to join in, I would say, find that door.  Whether it's a cigarette, a phone call, or simply a moment alone, there is always a door that is never used.  Trust me, find this door.
